How much does a website cost to build?

This is by far the question we get asked the most.

The answer is, "It depends" - on the approach used, scope of work and timing you may need to achieve. Because we are a professional web company with professional staff and tried-and-true process, we will not be the least expensive option available. You will need a budget of at least $2,500 to work with us, even on a basic project.

If budget is a concern, we can work with you on segmenting your project into phases and flexible payment plans.

What is your response time?

We respond within 24 hours to any and all client requests and questions. This is the cornerstone of our commitment to exceeding your expectations.

What's the turnaround time for a new website?

A project's timeline is always dependent on your ability to provide prompt feedback and our development workload at the time the project is approved, however this is typically the amount of time it takes to complete a project:

  • Design phase (2–3 weeks)
  • Development phase (2–4 weeks)
  • Beta (preview) phase before going live (1+ weeks)

How many leads will I get from a website?

To turn internet users into actual leads requires two primary things:

  • Site Trafficgetting more internet users to your site can be done through word of mouth, social networking, advertising, and many other ways.  The number of internet users that you can reach is directly related to how much time, effort and/or money you want to use to go get those users on your site.
  • Conversion - more important than getting users to your site is converting those users to leads which you can take action on. Action usually requires some sort of contact information from your site visitor and internet users are usually not excited about giving up that information. Rest assured we will work with you to make sure your new website leverages the best ways to convert a site visitor into an actual lead given the nature of your business and customer audience. Investments in this area usually pay off at a much higher return than investments that are made just to increase traffic.

Very often, a successful conversion occurs when you prove to the user that you are a reputable provider of the service or product they’re looking for, and that you are trustworthy and easy to work with.

What are the ongoing costs of a website?

There are 2-3 ongoing costs for any website:

  1. Domain Registration
In order to set up a website, you’ll need to have a domain name (like www.adaptainc.com). Available domain names usually cost $15 annually.
  2. Web Hosting
You’ll need to store the files for your website on a server that also provides enough bandwidth for visitors to access them. Hosting costs are usually paid semi-annually or annually and vary depending on the size of your website and bandwidth requirements. Our hosting packages allow you to host email on your domain. The cost for most projects start around $10/month.
  3. Security Products
If your website handles sensitive information such as credit cards and other methods of payment, you'll want to purchase an SSL to protect the personal data that users enter on your website. SSL costs vary based on what level of security you need, however the standard one we recommend for most clients is $150/year.

Can you work with my existing website and just make it better?

Of course, but it may not be easy.

Taking over the development of a system that was built by a different developer can be tricky. If the system is simple, our technical specialists will have no problem taking over the management of it and making improvements. However, if the system has advanced or complex functionality or if it’s not working correctly in some way, there are no short cuts we can take to fix those problems.

If you’re willing to give us "the keys" to your system, we’ll take a look and work with you to make a plan for how we might be able to help.

Can a website integrate with our existing software?

Yes it can!

We’ve done integrations with all sorts of online and offline software packages. In fact, our team specializes in custom web development, so working on integration projects is something we love to do. Tell us what you you're trying to achieve and we'll take it from there.

How do I ensure my website is secure?

There are three main things to consider when it comes to site security:

  1. Hosting - Do you know where your website is hosted? Are they doing regular upgrades and system backups to ensure your site is archived regularly in case something catastrophic would happen to the web server? This is the first thing to know.
  2. Strong Passwords - If you have an admin panel or web-based content management system (CMS) where you can make changes to your website, make sure to use a strong password to prevent hacking.
  3. Protecting Sensitive Information - If your website handles sensitive information such as credit card (or other payment methods) or member data, you'll need what's called an SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificate to protects that information. There are graduating levels of encryption (security level) which you pay for accordingly (the more encrypted the secure connection, the more expensive the certificate will be).

What is responsive web design?

Responsive web design is when the web layout "adapts" to the user's device, whether it's a desktop, tablet or smartphone.

The website elements - navigation, text, images - reorganize themselves to be viewed/digested optimally on any device, regardless of size. This is accomplished through flexible, proportion-based grids and images rather than "fixed" pixel-based grids that comprise the typical website.
